Biotechnology is the branch of science that deals with the manipulation of living organisms and organic materials to sustain human need. It affects various areas and addresses issues such as problems in agriculture.
Biotechnology is used in agricultural processing and production by improving the nutritional value and shelf-life of agricultural products hence, Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO).

Though GMOs were primarily developed to help farmers grow more food with less land and less labor while being more environmentally friendly, it also helps in making foods more accessible and affordable to consumers.

Deforestation is the clearing of trees in forests. It has been affecting forests around the world, including those in the Philippines.
